The first to speak about the advantages of eating raw food was the inventor of muesli, Maximilian Bircher-Benner who has cured from jaundice with the help of green apples. Modern rawfoodists claim that during heat treatment the products lose important enzymes and become useless for our body. However, dietarians have some arguments against the healthiness of this method.

Raw Food Diet forbids using pasteurized or UHT milk. However, if you refuse from dairy products completely you are deprived of protein. Vegetarians in this case eat beans but you are not likely to chop raw haricot beans.

Most enthusiasts of this method say that raw food removes toxins from your body. However, the official medicine has never confirmed the fact that there are any toxins in our body which should be removed. If you feel bad, it means that you feel bad and not that there are some salts, stones, vapors and negative energy in your body.

It is hard to receive proper amount of vitamins D, B2, B12, calcium, zinc and selenium if you eat only plant food. Meat is an excellent source of these elements. As for the raw meat, you are always in danger of getting infections, allergy, bots, toxoplasmosis and other “pleasant” bonuses together with these vitamins.

However, these factors do not mean that Raw Food Diet should be excluded from your to-do list once and for all. You can take the best of it and use it for your benefit. For instance, WHO recommends eating about 650 gr. of fruits and vegetables every day. You can follow this recommendation without refusing from milk and meat, though. After a month of such nutrition every rawfoodist will envy your perfect face complexion. If you still believe that raw food diet is what you need, practice keeping it for short periods of time, but observe the moment when you should stop.
